Data Collection Point B

Similar to Point A, I had about 11 students respond to this point of the data collection. As length of conversation was slightly different in each collection point, when it came to comparative analysis later on, I converted the text analysis data to percentages. So if 174 relevant words were used in the conversation, and three of them were related to ‘body’, then themes relating to the body would be (3/174) *100 = 1.72% of the conversation.

How does research take place in your practice?

Written first responses to the question ‘How does research take place in your practice?’

Oral responses/ analysis of others work

‘What we personally you think?’

‘The BFI – we went there and that was useful.’

‘Video essays are helpful – I don’t read much so I agree’

‘Sometimes it’s in the real real world’

Later…

‘Are we going on any other research trips? We really enjoyed them. I know with people turning up late etc it may seem that people didn’t want to go, but we did. We found new ways of thinking about knowledge. We went to the Women in Revolt exhibiton and Sarah Lucas.’

‘We went to the Wellcome Collection’
